The request from Renault was to be able to make the full rotation of a virtual vehicle on scale 1: 1 as we do naturally around a real vehicle. After studies of various innovating concepts but not answering completely the aim, CLARTE conceived R-Screen.
R-Screen : description
The R-Screen is a swivelling screen whose motorized frame is ordered by the movements of the user. It calculates in real-time the image projected according to the point of view of the user. The device consists of a screen of rétroprojection, a videoprojector, of an optical system of tracking, the whole assembled on a swivelling frame.
The user can make a dynamic visit around a virtual vehicle, approach, move away or bend down to look at the details which he wishes. He can also open a side door to discover interior environment and the trunk door to have the concept of his volume.
